We presented a comprehensive literature review to Parkwood Institute. We outlined the current inadequacies in treatment across the continuum of care for Dual Diagnosis patients and in additional to a review of the literature, we made recommendations to make impactful improvements and improve care for Dual Diagnosis patients.
Overall, we found that there is a significant burden placed on inpatient services and that we recommend outpatient services be improved to relieve this burden. Additionally, a lack of specialized staff training throughout care sectors and outdated practices are significant issues that must be resolved for care to be adequately improved.
